There is nothing quite like a baptism to remind us of the depth of God's love and forgiveness. Whether the baptized is a new infant or an older person entering the faith, the Godparents, family, and loved ones of the baptized share the awesome responsibility of guiding them through their first Sacrament of Initiation into the Catholic Church. Use this Catholic Baptism Gift Guide as your roadmap to finding the perfect gift for your newly baptized!
Through baptism, we receive the Holy Spirit and begin our journey with Christ.
The origin of this holy sacrament lies in the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist. Since Jesus is sinless, He did not need baptism to cleanse Him of sin. Instead, he received baptism to fulfill all righteousness (Matthew 3:15). That is to say, He did the Will of His Father for the salvation of humanity. After His resurrection, Jesus commanded his disciples to go forth and baptize all nations as a way to cleanse them of Original Sin.
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Matthew 26:16-20
We've put together a list of gifts for baptism, including beautiful baptism rosaries, perfect for anyone celebrating this rite!
A great gift option for the newly baptized is a special Baptism Rosary. Baptism Rosaries are a beautiful way for the baptized person to recall and live out the gift of this sacrament. Giving the gift of a baptism rosary means giving something that can follow the baptized throughout their whole journey with Christ. Rosaries can be blessed on the day of baptism. They are an excellent tool to aid in learning prayers and developing prayerful habits. The same rosary can be carried through future sacraments, like first communion, confirmation, and marriage.
