Pope St. Pius X was born in Italy on June 2, 1835. On August 4, 1903, he became pope and would remain the pope until 1914.
In order to get closer to Christ, Pius urges us to go to Mary. She will help lead us into a deeper relationship with her Son. His motto was to "restore all things in Christ." We can accomplish this by turning to Mary in our time of need.
In addition to his strong devotion to the Blessed Mother, Pius had a strong devotion to the Blessed Sacrament. In fact, he often reminded people that the Blessed Sacrament is "the shortest and safest path to heaven."
Just as St. Augustine recognized that "he who sings prays twice," Pius also recognized the importance of Sacred Music within the Church, especially Gregorian Chant. Music a beautiful form of prayer to glorify God.
Ask for Pope St. Pius X intercession in your day to day life. Pray to him to increase your devotion to the Blessed Mother and the Blessed Sacrament. Pope St. Pius X, pray for us!
"If the Angels could envy, they would envy us for Holy Communion."
~ St. Pius X
