Hungry Souls by Gerald JM Vand Den Aardweg

The author takes an in-depth look at the suffering souls in purgatory, relating how various souls appeared to different pious Catholics (and to one non-Catholic, Protestant pastor who hadn't believed in purgatory). Some of them left behind burn marks on a corporale or on a prayerbook. The author devotes a chapter to debunking the belief that all such apparitions are demonic impostors, which many Protestants hold. The book includes several pages of photos of exhibits from the Museum of Purgatory. I have to admit this book gave me the creeps when I first read it because the author writes about the paranormal in the first chapter. I've watched too many ghost tv shows. But this book makes it clear beyond the shadow of a doubt that purgatory is real and souls suffering in purgatory do appear to the living to ask for prayers. This is why I pray the Rosary for the holy souls in purgatory everyday, all year long.
