This glorious image of the Lord Jesus as the Infant of Prague has been a delight to the faithful since it's promulgation. Originally a gift to the Carmelite order, the religious of that community have devoted themselves to this image ever since. He holds in the globe in His hand, crowned with the cross, to show His triumph and kingship over the world. His other hand is raised in blessing, showing he is both priest and king. In the beginning of the seventeenth century. Princess Polyxenia of Lobkowitz had received as a wedding gift a statue of the Divine Child. When a Carmelite Monastery was reduced to poverty, owing to the ravages of war, the princess gave her precious statue to them, saying, "I give you what I prize most highly in the world; honor and respect the Child Jesus and you shall never be in want."
Our Lord Jesus has made good on that promise for years for those who place their trust in Him!
