Holy Gemma burned with a desire to unite her sufferings with Christ. So she took many opportunities to engage in self-denial and sacrifice. For this, Our Lord filled her with divine radiance. So much so that the Devil himself attacked her during life. But she was fearless, knowing that Satan is nothing before Jesus, her soul's spouse.
