Our Lady of Good Remedy Statue
Catholic Statuary
In the year 1198, St. John Matha founded the Trinitarian order, who would go to the slave markets and buy up the Christians being sold as slaves. And then set them free. For this, they required large sums of money. So the Saint placed his work into the hands of Mary under the title of Our Lady of Good Remedy. Today, Mary still works to end slavery, no matter what form it takes. This Catholic statue shows the holy Virgin and Jesus together with a bag of coins; reminding us of the historical part of this image. And it is Christ Himself who ultimately frees us through His Passion and Resurrection.
