POPE ST JOHN XXIII HOLYCARD
Back reads: Sainthood Celebration
Divine Mercy Sunday
April 27, 2014 Pope Saint John XXIII Pope John XXIII was inspired that the Catholic Church needed "updating". He called the Second Vatican Council and set the Church to a process he described with the Italian term "Aggiornamento" or bringing up to date. "I want to open up the windows of the Church, so that we can see out and the people can see in." Divine Spirit, renew your wonders in our time, as though for a new Pentecost, and grant that the holy church, preserving unanimous and continuous prayer, together with Mary the Mother of Jesus, and also under the guidance of St. Peter, may increase the reign of the Divine Savior, the reign of truth and justice, and the reign of love and peace. Amen. Feast day, October 11
